Friends of the Baltic held an info-station on the Baltic Sea environment and microplastic in the framework of VIII Oranienbaum Marine Festival

The event’s agenda consisted from 3 main areas. Sporting part included the “Orange Race” yachting regatta. Business part included conferences. The entertainment part included a variety of concerts, show programs and master classes, including an environmental creativity zone, where Friends of Baltic were organizers of one of the information and education stations.

The event took place in Oranienbaum, where a sand mound on the site of the intended port "Yantar" appeared several years ago.

"Yantar" included the territory of more than four hectares. Local residents hope to see a recreation area here, since there is not a single recreation area near the water in the coastal city of Lomonosov.

At the Information and Education Station, children and adults could listen to a small lecture on a little-known microplastic: where it comes from, how it gets to our table, and how to minimize its content in water bodies.

Also at the station you could listen to an interactive excursion about the geography, flora and fauna of the Baltic Sea, find out what makes it so unique, and what is the name of the marine mammal that lives in the Baltic Sea.

Games and other interactive stations from such organizations as “Split Collection”, “Talking sharing”, as well as the game from the Oceanarium were also presented in the zone of ecological creativity.
Last year, the festival won the grand prix of the All-Russian contest “Russian Event Awards” in the nomination “The best tourist event in the country in sports” and entered the national calendar of events!
